Tip #2

Act Quickly: Once the baking soda is added, the sugar mixture will foam and begin to set rapidly. Have all tools ready and work swiftly to shape the candy.

Tip #3

Safety First: The sugar mixture gets extremely hot; use caution when handling. Use tools that can withstand high temperatures to avoid melting or damage.

Squid Games Dalgona Candy

Total time: 15 minutes

Servings: 2-3 candies

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp white sugar

  • 1/8 tsp baking soda

Equipment

  • Cookie cutters or DIY shapes

  • Parchment paper

  • Bowl or pan with a flat bottom for flattening

Preparation

  1. Lightly grease your cookie cutters and the bottom of a bowl or pan with oil to prevent sticking. Set these aside on a heat-resistant surface covered with parchment paper.

  2. In a small pan over low heat, melt 3 tablespoons of sugar. Stir constantly to prevent the sugar from burning until it is completely melted and turns golden.

  3. Once the sugar has melted and is a golden color, quickly stir in 1/8 teaspoon of baking soda. Mix thoroughly until it's fully incorporated and the mixture turns light caramel in color and starts to foam.

  4. Immediately pour the mixture onto the prepared parchment paper. Use the greased bottom of your bowl or pan to flatten the mixture quickly and evenly before it hardens.

  5. While still warm, press the greased cookie cutter into the candy to create your desired shape. Allow the candy to cool slightly within the cutter, then gently remove it.
