Healthier Cinnamon Rolls
Healthier Cinnamon Rolls are a delightful twist on the classic sweet treat, made with wholemeal flour. These rolls are soft and fluffy, with a rich cinnamon filling with brown sugar and coconut oil. Perfect for a cozy breakfast or a guilt-free snack, these cinnamon rolls offer all the comforting flavours without the extra calories.
Tip #1
Dough Consistency: Ensure the dough is neither too wet or too dry for easy handling. The right consistency prevents the rolls from becoming too tough or too crumbly.
Tip #2
Even Filling Spread: Make sure the cinnamon mixture is spread evenly across the dough to ensure every bite has a balanced flavour.
Tip #3
Frosting Texture: Allow the cinnamon rolls to cool slightly before applying the frosting to prevent it from melting and ensure it stays thick and creamy on top of the rolls.

Healthier Cinnamon Rolls
Preparation time: 15 minutes | Cooking time: 8 minutes
Servings: 8
Ingredients
Dough:
2 cups wholemeal flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
1 cup yogurt (vanilla, Greek, coconut, or plain)
Filling:
1/3 cup butter or coconut oil, melted
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp. cinnamon
Frosting:
1/2 cup (60g) light cream cheese, softened
2 tbsp (28g) butter, softened
1/2 cup (50g) powdered sugar
Preparation
In a large mixing bowl, combine wholemeal flour, salt, and baking powder. Add yogurt and mix until a soft dough forms. Adjust the consistency with additional yogurt or flour if needed.
Dust a clean surface with flour. Knead the dough briefly, then roll it out into a rectangular shape about 1 cm thick.
In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter or coconut oil, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Spread this mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough.
Roll the dough tightly from the short end to form a log. Cut the log into eight equal slices using a sharp knife or dental floss for clean cuts.
Place the rolls in a circular baking pan suitable for the air fryer. Cook at 180°C/350°F for about 8 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
While rolls cool slightly, beat cream cheese and butter in a bowl until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and continue to mix until creamy.
Spread the frosting over the slightly cooled cinnamon rolls.
