Buttered Shrimp

Total time: 20 minutes

Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp butter

  • 3 tbsp minced garlic

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper

  • 1 tsp chili flakes

  • 500g shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tbsp liquid seasoning (such as Maggi or Knorr)

  • 1/2 tbsp sriracha

  • Fresh herbs (optional, for garnish, such as parsley or cilantro)

Preparation

  1. Ensure your shrimp are thoroughly cleaned, peeled, and deveined. Pat them dry to remove excess moisture. This helps in achieving a better sear.

  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until it's golden and fragrant. Stir in the paprika, black pepper and chili flakes, cooking for another minute to release their flavors.

  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the shrimp to the pan. Stir in the sugar, liquid seasoning and sriracha and sauté quickly until they start to turn pink. Continue to cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the shrimp are completely cooked through and the sauce has slightly thickened. Avoid overcooking to keep the shrimp tender.

  4. Remove from heat and transfer the shrimp to a serving dish. Sprinkle with fresh chopped herbs for added flavour and visual appeal. Serve immediately.
